Good King Wenceslas Went Out
/According to legend and song, Good King Wenceslas went out on December 26th, the feast day of St. Stephen, to give alms and comfort to the poor. We know that many of you are providing care and comfort to elders or those living with disabilities. You are living the spirit of the Christmas carol.
According to tradition, the snow was deep when the King and his young page set out, and soon the page felt overwhelmed. “Sire, the night is darker now and the wind blows stronger. Fails my heart, I know not how, I can go no longer.”
The King encouraged the boy to walk in his fresh tracks. “Mark my footsteps, my good page, tread thou in them boldly. Thou shalt find the winter’s rage freeze thy blood less coldly”.
If there is anything we can do to help you or a loved one, please let us know. We wish you the best during this season.
“He who cheers another’s woe shall himself find cheering.”
