Come Join Us for our AOK Sunflower Connections Events!

We know many of you miss our beloved Sunflower Fair that we do each year, so the North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging (NC-FH AAA) is excited to bring something more personal to a community near you. These events are our Answers for Older Kansans (AOK) Sunflower Connections and will feature information and fun for seniors and caregivers.

“COVID-19 has popped our plans for our popular annual Sunflower Fair—so these two events are ways for people in this part of Kansas to get trustworthy and practical information on topics important to anyone who is going to celebrate more birthdays,” said Julie Govert Walter, Executive Director of the NC-FH AAA.  She added that experts will cover “How to Make your Money Last as Long as You Do,” “Positive Aging” and “Talking With Your Doctor: Being Your Best Health Care Advocate.”

For the safety of participants, each event is limited to 50 people. Registration for participants is $10 per person and includes a catered lunch. To register call the NC-FH AAA at 1-800-432-2703 or visit www.ncfhaaa.com/sunflowerconnections. Once you have registered, you may pay the registration fee online or mail your payment via check to: NC-FH AAA, Attn: Sunflower Connections, 401 Houston Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas 66502

The Current Events and Locations Are:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 1st at 9:30 a.m. in Marion at the Marion Community Center, 203 N. Third Street. (Registrations must be completed by August 20th)

  • Thursday, Sept. 30th at 9:30 a.m. in Wamego at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 17535 Say Road. (Registrations must be completed by September 23rd)

  • Keep watch for at least two more events that are still being planned.

Vendors or businesses who wish to provide information or prizes at the events should contact the NC-FH AAA at 800-432-2703 by August 19.  These will be accepted at the North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging’s Manhattan office at 401 Houston Street, Manhattan, Kansas 66502 unless other arrangements are made. Those interested in reserving a table at the Wamego event should contact Michelle Long at 785-456-2260 by Sept. 15. The cost is $30.
