Identifying Legal Problems that Arise from Diminished Capacity: An AOK Seminar

The North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging will be offering a new Answers for Older Kansans (AOK) Zoom on Thursday, June 10th at 5:30 pm.

After retirement we like to remain independent for as long as possible, but as we age diminishing capacity can lead to legal problems regarding our health, finances, belongings and treatment by family members. Using legal documents like Durable Powers of Attorney (DPOAs) and living wills to designate ahead of time who can make decisions is important to preventing mistreatment. This seminar will explain the legal problems that can arise from diminishing capacity and how to plan for them. Shipp will also talk about guardians and conservatorship as well as elder abuse.

Registration is available at www.ncfhaaa.com/seminars or by calling 1-800-432-2730.

Paul Shipp will be presenting a different Zoom seminar each month on a variety of legal topics that are important for seniors and Kansans living with disabilities. Watch our website, social media, field announcements and the Caregiver Newsletter for more information.

Detailed instructions on how to participate in Zoom technology are available at www.ncfhaaa.com/seminars and login instructions will be sent to those who register. There is no cost for participating; voluntary contributions are appreciated and accepted.
