The event happens Tuesday, September 29 from 9:15 am to 2:30 pm at the Junction City Senior Center at 1025 S. Spring Valley Rd, and The Golden Wheel Senior Center at 114 S. Concord St in Minneapolis. The presentation will also be made available to remote participants through Zoom.

Lunch will be available to participants at both locations. To meet social distancing requirements, space at each location is limited. Wearing of masks will be required.

People may register for the event by going to ncfhaaa.com/sunflowerseeds or by calling 1-800-432-2703.

“People tell us that they want trustworthy information—they want to learn along with others and also connect with credible experts on these issues,” said Julie Govert Walter, Executive Director of the NC-FH AAA said. “We are making safety a priority and believe these small group gatherings will be great opportunities for seniors and caregivers to get important and useful information.”

Presenters for the event are:

Paul Shipp, managing attorney at Kansas Legal Services and an experienced elder law attorney: “Durable Power of Attorney—what to know and how to be a success in carrying out your responsibilities.”

Karen Mayse, veteran NC-FH AAA Medicare benefits counselor: “What is Joe Namath selling? The array of Medicare options.”

Michelle Niedens, clinical social worker with KU’s Alzheimer’s Disease Center: “It Takes a Village: What we can do to best help people with dementia and their caregivers.”
